LPH MENTOR
Headship can be a very lonely job. At LPH we offer the opportunity to be assigned a mentor to support you in your first year in this new role.
What can a mentor offer?
A bespoke service to each mentee to meet your own needs/requests
Leadership support – both emotional and practical
The benefit of our experience – been there, got the T-shirt!
A listening ear/sounding board as a current serving Head
A critical challenge – asking the questions to develop your thinking
Objectivity from outside your MAT/Teaching school/ local group
No hidden or political agenda
An introduction to other Heads/contacts/networks
How would it work?
1. On request of a mentor, you will be allocated an experienced LPH Head
2. Within the first term, your mentor will contact you via email/phone to introduce him/herself and arrange, if you wish, to meet up
3. Your mentor is available as and when needed throughout the year for emails/calls or to meet up/visit
4. Your mentor will touch-base with you termly if they don’t hear from you
5. At the point we feel something is beyond our remit, we will tell you and seek advice from the Local Authority
What we aren’t!
We are fellow Heads within the LA but we are not all-knowing advisers
Leadership support – both emotional and practical
If we can’t help we will signpost you to someone who can
We are not there to replace the role of your allocated LA Education Effectiveness Partner/Diocese School improvement support. If we feel this is who you need to be speaking to, we will ensure we point you in the right direction.
